One of its biggest news companies is under fire after Lisa LaFlamme, a former news anchor, was allegedly let go for allowing her hair to become gray.
She anounced her dismissal from CTV National News, one of the most viewed news shows in the nation, on Twitter.
She acknowledges that the decision has “blindsided” her and goes on to explain why she believes she was fired.
Thenshe said, “I’m still in disbelief and sorrow. I still believed that, at 58, I would have a lot more to share more of the tales that have an influence on our daily lives.”
The program’s host since 11 has been her. She quit dyeing her hair during the health crisis, like a lot of women, and opted to just let her true gray show rather.
She later admitted to regretting not making the choice years earlier to the show’s viewers.
But according to reports, Michael, an executive, said “who had authorized the decision to allow her hair grow grey.”
They are stated to have clashed on issues pertaining to journalism and news reporting.
For 35 years, she has worked for the network and has won the Canadian Screen Award for outstanding anchor.
She was abruptly let go, shocking viewers from all across the nation, and other business executives in the nation joined the conversation about the apparent reasons for the termination.
Investor Arlene had praised her idea to “mature elegantly” on national tv, adding that things were going well “until the people at CTV put their feminine age discrimination to work.”
She was fired as a result of “changing viewer behavior,” according to Bell Media, the owner of CTV, which provided no further explanation.
Her charges have been officially denied by the CTV administration.
Vice President Karine Moses stated during a company town hall: “I am a female.
I am a female. I have spent 25 years here. Do you honestly believe that just because a lady is a woman, I would fire her?”
Amanda Watson, a sociolog, said, “I’m stunned, not surprised, like many of us.
I have a feeling that what occurred wasn’t her losing her job because she became older.
In addition, I think that’s what occurred naturally.
These moments, I question my decision to [color my hair] every day I look in the mirror. No need for me to. I’m an academic!”
