A policeman decided to adopt the little girl he met on duty

A 4-year-old girl was given a permanent home by an Arizona police officer who he met while on duty.

Kaila was just adopted by Lieutenant Brian Zach of the Kingman Police Department and his wife Cierra.

He and his officers were called to check Kaila’s home in March 2018 when he was serving as a patrol sergeant.

Zach spent the night with Kaila, who has experienced abuse.

She held my hand as we drew and snacked, and Zach described her as being a sweet little thing.

When the cops arrived, they scooped her up and drove her to the hospital.

Zach is the father of two young people.

After chatting with Kaila for a while, he went home and informed his wife that he wanted the young woman to move in with them.

Kaila experienced physical abuse at this time, which resulted in several injuries.

Zach said that Kayla’s caretaker was the subject of criminal accusations.

When child protective services were unable to place Kayla, Zach said that he and Cierra stepped in to help.

She just had a sippy cup and a bag of inappropriate clothing, according to Zach.

She started calling my wife “mom” or “mommy” on the second day, he continued.

When she entered preschool, she discovered who her father was after I had played the role of “man” for a few days.

At Mohave County Superior Court in Lake Havasu City, the Zachs formally adopted Kaila in August.

We didn’t sure if she would return to her natural parents or how long we would be able to keep her, so we lived in uncertainty each week, Zach said.

“Our intention was to provide this young child love and care for as long as it lasted,” the group stated.

Rusty Cooper, the chief of police for the Kingman Police Department, said, “Lt. Brian Zach’s dedication to public safety is demonstrated by his dedication and love for Kaila.

Exceptional parents are Brian and his wife Cierra.

They are devoted to helping others and a purpose bigger than themselves, Copper continued.

We are happy to have Brian and his fam as members of the Kingman Police Department and are proud of him for it.

While Kaila is on a “cruises vacation” in her cardboard box, Zach said she enjoys preschool, animals, dancing, and pretend play.

She is hilarious and clever, he continued. She’s simply a character, I guess.
