After being evicted from her residence in Hudson, Florida, where she had resided for more than 30 years, an elderly widow named Angie Tyma was confronted with the devastating reality of being homeless.
Tyma and her husband had lived in the house together until he died, after which she continued to live there by paying rent to a new owner.
Tyma was notified to vacate the property after it was later sold to an investment company due to the previous owner’s inability to pay the mortgage.
She had no idea that she would be forced to leave her home, despite the warning.
Tyma’s predicament was made even more difficult by the fact that she had buried her three pets and scattered the ashes of her late husband in the backyard.
Tyma was displaced and heartbroken when she ended up spending three weeks living in a hotel. However, her neighbors would not permit her to remain homeless.
They banded together to assist Tyma when they observed that her personal belongings were being taken from her home.
Danielle Calder, one of her neighbors, went above and beyond by returning the house to the investment company for $167,500.
Despite the fact that Calder did not require a new residence, he felt compelled to assist Tyma and wanted her to be able to return to the community and home she cherished.
Calder surprised Tyma by giving her the keys to her new house on her 89th birthday. Tyma was overjoyed and returned to her home, paying Calder rent to help cover expenses.
Tyma was able to regain her home and sense of safety thanks to the collective efforts of her compassionate community.
