Pit bulls frequently have bad names. When people think of pit bulls, they often think of vicious, aggressive dogs that are often chained up in the backyard.
They might also consider fighting dogs or dogs that were in the news for biting children. However, pit bulls are not naturally aggressive.
The dog has been described as loving, loyal, and affectionate, and its temperament has been described as steady. Unfortunately, many pit bulls are cared for improperly by irresponsible owners.
Because of the dog’s “macho” reputation, these owners frequently purchase pit bulls and train their dogs to be tough and threatening.
One lucky pit bull was able to reunite with his brother, who had been separated from him when they were puppies and avoid a life of fighting.
Keiko and Niko are these brothers who own pit bulls. A rescue group called Simi Valley Missing Pets stopped a litter of pit bull puppies from becoming fighting dogs.
The puppies were healthy enough to be adopted after being cared for by the rescue. Their owner discovered the puppies online, but the town only allowed three dogs.
She was only able to adopt one puppy, Keiko, as she already had two older dogs. Niko and the other puppies were adopted by other families and owners. In the end, Keiko was the perfect puppy.
He was so disciplined. We couldn’t have been more fortunate,” their owner told The Dodo. Their eldest dog passed away five months later.
The owner came across Niko’s picture one night while she was online on her phone. She found out the following day that Niko had been taken back and that his adoptive family did not treat him well.
She turned to her husband and informed him that they needed to adopt Niko right away because they were a two-dog family. He completely concurred with her.
They were able to reunite Niko and his brother Keiko with success. He was described as sweet but very reserved by his owner. Also, he didn’t know what to do.
He did, however, know that Keiko was his brother. Keiko remained by Niko’s side the entire time, and the two dogs immediately recognized one another.
Niko’s new owners put him to sleep in a crate the first night he was home. Keiko entered the house and stayed with him throughout the night.
Now, the two brothers cannot be apart. They take baths together, go hiking together, and even enjoy crammed side by side into a small kitchen corner.
Keiko and Niko enjoy spending time together, and Niko has become more self-assured since being adopted.
Their proprietor stated, “He will always hold on to some part of his past, but having Keiko by his side every step of the way really got him through everything.”
