Timothy Ellis was working on his computer at home in Washington state the other evening when he noticed something on one of his exterior security cameras.
The motion of a man in a mask sneaking through Ellis’ yard was captured by the camera, but it was not particularly frightening.
In fact, the opposite was true. Naturally, the visitor was a raccoon. Around Ellis’s house, they are fairly common. But this one started acting strangely while Ellis watched through the camera.
Ellis told The Dodo that “he] started pawing at the sky.”
When I realized that he was in fact chasing snowflakes, my primary thought was that I absolutely needed to save this video because I was aware that other people would enjoy watching it.
You definitely won’t see something like this every day.
The raccoon appeared to be filled with adorable wonder as the snow fell: Interestingly, Ellis and the raccoon shared a characteristic at that very moment: they had both put their activities on hold to take in the natural splendor that was unfolding before them.
In the end, Ellis was influenced by that. He stated, “It’s simple to tune out the “city animals” that we see so frequently as background noise.”
It’s a lot of fun to capture a moment like this, and keep in mind that even wild animals can have fun and be a little bit of a character.
